The strain was developed by a Canadian amateur mycologist, Rusty Whyte, on the Shroomery. It took a few years to develop, but the strain was met with great welcome and anticipation by the community.

As mentioned before, the appearance of the Rusty White shroom is white and generally has a small-to-medium-sized fruit. Its spores have a distinct rusty red color.
